The practice nurses see patients for consultations, routine treatments, blood tests, BP checks, ECGs, dressings and foreign travel immunisations and advice.
Midwives
A team of midwives support the doctors
in providing antenatal care. This is a comprehensive community maternity service,
antenatal and postnatal.
District Nurses
A team led by a senior sister, employed by the community health trust, provide
nursing support at home.
Health Visitors
The health visitors employed by the community health trust provide child health
care, health promotion and child protection via home or school visits.
Social Worker
When patients need extra assistance at home due to health circumstances the GP
will refer the patient to social workers as necessary.
